Lately several members of HG and I have noticed a decline in forum posts, and so, I thought it would be nice to try to post some new topics…
So, just curious, what are your favorite songs and bands?

I’ll start by saying that lately I have really been getting back into listening to my phonographs since I just set up my record player again.
So I have lately been listening to a lot of: the Mamas and the Papas, Postal Service, Peter Paul and Mary, Modest Mouse, Yelle, Julieta Venegas, the Mars Volta, Air, Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, and Dubstar.

Mainly:
Dubstar (Stars)*a favorite*- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-x6ywUqVvk

Julieta Venegas (Mi Principio)*a favorite*- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUXm8hiI1Qw

Air (Playground Love) * a favorite*- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAgX1jO3No0

Interpol (Slow Hands)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmtsktxLYqs

The Mamas and the Papas (I Call Your Name)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbpiMpT1l0c

Modest Mouse (Dashboard)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=penvn9VL32Y

Yelle (Amour Du Sol)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk2BHj7d7xo

It would be really cool to hear what you guys are interested in, it would also be cool if you could post youtube addresses so we could see what you are interested in as well.

Music is exceedingly important to me, and it effects my emotions and thoughts profoundly. I have found so much alignment and release in music throughout the years, and it only seems to increase over time. I could talk for ever about the music I listen to, so I will just direct people here

I listen mostly to the following genres: Trip-Hop, Electronic, Ambient, Downtempo, Chillout, Shoegaze, among other things.

A few songs that I have been hooked on for a month or so now

Beach House – Norway (genre: Chillout/Indie)
This song is just… beautiful. It combinds higher level tones with a gentle deep rythym. One can tell apart each note, but it all blends together. It just feels “angelic” to me.

Perfume Tree – Home (genre: Trip-Hop/Ethereal)
This band has been my favorite band for over a year now. All of their music is so original, and it is a damn shame that they are so unknown to everyone. Again this song just has this “angelic” quality to it. Very spacey without being boring.

port-royal – Balding Generation (Genre: Electronic/Shoegaze)
The ultimate in slow progression. The song just builds and builds and builds on itself without stopping for a second. It gets very very intense, but not in a harsh way. It simply has a strong presence that can not be ignored.
