Hey everyone!
Just wanted to have advice from you about the trip I am gonna do in june.
We will start in NYC (where I hope there will be no bomb anymore :S ). I think
We will visit the most touristic attractions.
Then we will move to niagara falls. I have never done “journey behind the falss”. Does it worth it?
I’ll try to update my picture with robert wadlow ![]()
After that, toronto (where I spent 3 months in 2007) we will visit the city, the area of tobermory and canada’s‘wonderland, and then we will move to kingston to do the 1000 island cruise. Has anyone done it?
Does it worth seeing smiths falls?
Then ottawa (housing in a jail transformed in a hostel!!!) And montreal. We plan on going to la ronde. Is it that good?
What are the best things to do in ottawa and montreal?
After that we plan on going to trois rivieres, quebec and tadoussac to see the whales.
The end of the trip will be montreal again (and a day to spend in london heathrow airport!)
What can you advice to us? Any experience to share?
going in behind the Niagara Falls was awesome! it was worth it! i’ve been to niagara falls alot! Canada’s Wonderland is an awesome theme park i love most of the rides there and they are totally awesome! you and i should meet up in toronto! just let me know when you’re going to be doing this trip!
Thanks for the advice! I think we will do the “journey behing the falls”... Some friends told me that the canadian part of niagara falls was like “disneyland” compared to the american part of niagara so maybe we will also cross to see the US part
Hey Mini…
Don’t go to Smiths Falls!.. but come to Ottawa! great city and close to Kingston and Montreal – by car or train? I live in Ottawa – great city for the outdoors, By ward Market, Elgin st – the jailhouse is a cool place to stay – ghosts abound!... do you have a place to stay in Ottawa or Montreal?
ask away – J
Thanks regularsize! We definitely won’t go to smiths falls.
We have rent a car to travel from toronto to kingston (and sandbanks) and to ottawa.
It’s‘sure that we will stay at the ottawa jail hostel…hope casper will be nice with us :S
In montreal we will stay at the hostelling international hostel rue mackay if i remember well (i don’t have the papers on me right now)
Do you know if there will be special events the 20 and the 21st of june in ottawa?
What’ the best place to celebrate the quebec day in montreal?
Hey mini..
St Jean Baptiste(Quebec National holiday) is Jun24, Thursday – June 24 every year which is oneweek before Jul 01 – Canada Day…
If psb – you want to be in Ottawa on Canada Day – everyone comes and floods the downtown, 200,000-300,000 people take in this National holiday and is the best time to be in Ottawa….
Ottawa on wkends starting now have a festival of some kind every wkend…
www.ottawafestivals.ca – Italian wk(Preston st.) 10-20Jun culminating wkend is 19/20Jun, street is closed for pedestrians, and restaurants and cafe’s are open to the street…
Jazz festival 24Jun-04Jul in Confederation Park, downtown Ottawa – 300m from the Jail Hostel…
If in Ottawa when the quebec National holiday is on, one can cross the river(Ottawa river) to the Quebec side to celebrate the event, but not as big as it is in Montreal or Quebec City…
May I ask your timeline, dates etc…??
Montreal has a great Gay village, la village Gai in the east end with B and B’s etc… or hotels – but also to see is Old Montreal Port, downtown on Rue Ste Catherine for shopping and rue st Denis for restaurants and cafe’s and Mont Royal ave for more resto’s/shopping..
Montreal has even more festivals – bit one’s and many times, certain streets are closed in the downtown for concerts and outdoor events.. Montreal is a fun fun city ( New York city of the north )
Thanks a lot for those details!
I’ll be in ottawa on june 21st and 22nd. We’ll arrive in montreal the 23 I think and stay there untill the 25th.
Be back in montreal the 27th and have our flight the 29th afternoon.
As you can see we are not going to spend so much time in ottawa…
well enjoy your trip – I’ve given you a bit of insight and you will be in Montreal on 24Jun for st Jean baptiste – enjoy the party!
Ottawa downtown is small and easily walkable – walk to Byward market, galleries, museums and walk along Elgin st for cafe’s and bars… and you are beside Rideau Centre shopping – but save the shopping for Montreal on ste catherine st if you have the time – on the 24th stores will be closed in Montreal… between 25 and 27th of Jun – still doing the whale watching? lots of driving my friend…
have fun !
Well I am back home for an afternoon so the exact dates are : ottawa 20 to22, motreal 22 to 24, quebec 24 to 27 (with the trip at tadoussac to see whales) and then montréal 27 to 29.
I think we really need to do the by market. And I have seen that the hostel was close to it ![]()
I will have more time to really plan all those things this week end. I’ll let you know if I have some questions.
Thanks a lot!
Hey!!
We are in montrĂ©al!! And tomorrow we’ll be in Quebec city for the Saint Jean ![]()
Thanks a lot for the advice. Until now, everything is fine! New pictures soon ![]()
