South Park is much funnier, and a lot more reliable.
I’ll add another variable into the equation. I think that American Dad is funnier than Family Guy because it just goes to show that they can be as funny as they are on Family Guy and stay on topic for a 30 minute episode without segwaying into something off topic like a three minute Conway Twitty song (always irritates me). Plus some of Seth McFarlene’s greatest jokes have come from American Dad http://www.hulu.com/watch/115032/american-dad-the-rapture?c=Animation-and-Cartoons#s-p4-sr-i1 as an example 
So for me it’s:
South Park > American Dad > Family Guy
I hope those stupid chicken fights on Family Guy too, but I’ve never managed to make it the full way through an episode of American Dad.
I meant to say I hated them. Oh well.
I thought you meant to say that. But still. Who DOESNT know about the chicken fights on that show?
