Experiencing some difficulty accepting private message requests using Google Chrome on OSX.
The room has started freezing like crazy. I can only hang for twenty minutes or so before I notice that none of the 12 ppl in the room are talking. Granted, that’s normal for our chatroom anyway, but I then discover that I can’t post anything at all.
The fun thing is that occasionally we all get dumped out of the chat at the same time. ![]()
In addition to that, there are now members that are in the chat whose screen names and avatars don’t appear in the little superhero roll call on the right. Now that we have this accidental new “ninja mode” I can’t talk about thenewnick in peace without fear of him being there to see me slander his already tarnished name…
:/
In addition to what doc stated, once you have gone idle the frequency of random disconnections seem to increase drastically until the browser is restarted. (This is on Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1 as well as 3.6.6 and IE ![]()
Last night I was chatting for 5 minutes or so and then I was getting error message about not being able to send the text (not exact wording). That happened several times. Then I was getting error message about the connection being unstable. This happened around 4 times, then I was disconnected. Tried to reconnect and no luck, so maybe it was more than Chat. Was not a good evening.

As a result of going idle your browser will call upon the chatroom less often for new lines of text. I have slightly reduced the delay on that, so there should be fewer disconnects as a result. The ultimate way to avoid this, though, is to type and therefore come back from idle.

The message you are talking about is probably Your message could not be sent. If you receive this, it means your browser was not able to connect to the chatroom in order to send the message. Likewise, the error message about your connection being unstable means that you could not connect for any new lines of text. Both indicate that your own connection to the server is not working, rather than any problem with the chatroom or server itself.

Even upon returning from idle to actively sending messages, the rate of connection issues as described by Talldude and myself increases.
In addition to this, quite a few of the members are now experiencing a loss of connectivity with no message returned to them even when not hitting the idle time out.
The most common way to tell if this happens (aside from the room silence / lack of messages)is that your own messages seem to be sent, but never end up in the chat window. It seems the quickest solution to fixing this is to kill the chatroom and re-enter. However, it seems the frequency increases again the longer the browser is in use until copmpletely closed out.
Are all of the connection problems you mentioned occurring after you have been placed into Idle status? I am going to temporarily pause the Idle setting to see if it improves the situation any.
They seem to occur regardless of idle status, however, their frequency increases once you have gone idle.
We were discussing it earlier in the room, and several who did not reach idle status, continued to be dropped randomly.
Also, it was noted that the room has kicked everyone at the same time more than once in the past 4 days.
