Facial Beauty

Because I should be doing work and not procrastinating, I obviously find the most bizarre stuff on the net.

So here we go, a facial beauty analyser that judges your facial geometry and gives you a score. It even tells you why you are hot or not.

The problem is that you need a photo that is perfectly head on, or else the results will be skewed. I have tried with 2 photos that are kinda alright (might try taking a better picture later).

Got a 6.37 the first time, and a 7.17 the second (out of 10). High average isn’t too bad right?

Both times it told me I had poor horizontal facial symmetry (this might just be the photos). Nearly everything else was close to ideal; distance between eyes compared to eye width, face length to width, nose to face and nose to mouth.

The only thing that it said was wrong that I can be sure of, was that my ears are too long for my nose. Bah, I can’t help it that I somewhat resemble an elf or a Hylian

I also just noticed how fitting it is that I say I have long ears and my avatar is a rabbit. Totally not intentional!

And of course I completely forgot to post the website in my initial post.

Here it is.

Tried 2 more times; 6.24 and 7.47.

I actually wasn’t expecting it to be this high.

8.77
Your face has great horizontal symmatry
Your ears are too long for your nose
Your interoccular distance is too big for your eyes
Your face is too narrow/too long
Your nose is too narrow for your face width
The ratio of your mouth width to nose with is almost ideal

8.26. But the results were still pretty viscous.

Dangit, I’m obviously the uggo in this group.

Does my wonky face and long ears really drop my score so low?

Don’t try with an ID photo, I don’t think I know anyone who looks nice in theirs. I think the photographers get some kind of sick joy out of making you look as horrific as possible. My most recent one looks like my face has undergone some kind of allergic reaction and swole up.

The reason I found that website to begin with, was actually while I was looking for face shape analysers so I could find what kind of haircuts suit a face of my shape. I think I ended up finding some self tests, and I am somewhere between a square and diamond with its edges cut off. Sadly there are not many haircut recommendations for this.

Honestly a number can’t really be placed on physical attraction at all. While some of the people I am strongly physically attracted to would likely have a very high number for this, a large portion of them likely would not. It’s just my personal prefrence, but some of the people I am attracted to are not seen as strongly attractive as I see them. This all goes without saying as we all have different tastes. Beautiful does not equate to attractive, and ugly does not equate to unattractive. There is a corralary, but not an exact matchup.

Also from what I remember about this theory. People aren’t really considered “ugly” (via subjective satsitical opinions) unless the are around a 4 or lower. And people aren’t seen as “beautiful” unless they are above a 9 (and being above a 9 is extremely rare). Even then, there are a variety of opinions. Just because someone is movie star beautiful, doesn’t mean they are attractive to everyone. Otherwise, we’d all be falling head over heals for 90% of hollywood actors and actresses.

That is true. This test doesn’t count for skin quality and complexion, and things like moles, scars and facial hair. Some of those can enhance or detract quite easily depending on location and size. A beauty mark might seem nice in its place, but put it somewhere else like the middle of the forehead, and it would be a bit bizarre.

The idea that symmetry is attractive, works only up to a point I think. Too symmetrical has been proven to seem unnatural and probably leads a bit to the uncanny valley effect.

The idea of beauty is an odd one, and there is definitely a difference between it and attractiveness. I can see that Johnny Depp is quite pretty, but I by no means find him attractive. MANY others seem to oppose my view though.

Too perfect can become a bit bland to me. I need something a bit interesting to look at. I personally like it when a guy has really small ears, ears that kind of poke out, big noses or different coloured eyes.

I guess I also like extremes (height being an obvious one).

The other factor this type of test is not good for is teeth. Teeth are such a big factor in attraction for most. And can often be a dealbreaker. There are some guys I thought seemed fine, until I see their teeth and the idea of trying to kiss them repulses me.
