What's it like in England?

Just kind of curious because I received a phone call asking if I would go out there for a 1 year contract.

Don’t you already live in London?

Unlike the American’s, in Canada we don’t feel compelled to add “New” in front of city names.

I wish I could edit. Remove the apostrophe.

It’s a bit cold and wet from Oct to April. Most people, especially further up north, are very friendly and will make you feel welcome. Relevant to this site, there are quite a lot of tall guys (many of whom I have dated! lol).
Where in England will your contract have you based?

I might be visiting in June for a wedding.

It better not be cold and miserable! I have lived in almost constant sunshine for the past 20 and a bit years, I don’t think I could handle the motherland if the weather goes all bleak.

England is a nice place if you go to the right place. I like living here. What part of England would it be?

Because I do not work for the company at this moment, and the acquisition is still being completed, I don’t have a lot of details. What I do know is that it’s a fairly large company and likely to have various locations throughout the country (possibly near by countries as well).

I think people are friendly wherever you go not exclusively in the North. People in big cities can be a bit blunt but they don’t mean anything by it.

Oh, this might be like the last trip I was on, where I have to relearn English. LOL

Everyone in the North is a friendly miner with no supply of electricity in their dwellingplace. In the south, they are stand-off-ish and shoot large mammals for sport. Both sorts are fond of the pub. So take your pick. If you’d be here for a year then half of that would be taken up by the initial wonder at cultural differences/scones and crumpets. If you’re used to living abroad/flexible/adaptable then chances are it’d be great? I still dine out on the ‘London experience’ when I’m down.

Haha to be fair it’s going to be a hell of a lot better than going to America. Plus the pubs are great also I’m here, that makes it a worthwhile experience for anyone.

Lol if only we could still use these differences There may yet be people who fit this description but there is a hell of a variety between, including Northerners with electricity and openminded Southerners who detest shooting anything.
