Is it me or is this place turning into match.com or e-harmony?
I can’t speak for others. Speaking for myself, I’m not interested in dating people. Most of you live too far away.
I’m not interested in dating anybody from here period but I notice people here treat this place like a date site
Its a site aimed mostly at males, dealing with an extreme. There has always been, and always was every likelihood that people treat and use it like a fetish website.
You are lucky you haven’t been on here for the past few years (actually for all I know you have been), but if you are only comparing it to match.com or e-harmony then you are experiencing a fairly tame version of what has been around here.

This website in all the iterations I have seen it in has never had a clear purpose. The active member base is too small to alienate any group as long as they are being civil so best to leave the purpose as vague as possible.
If people want to use it as a hookup/dating site, more power to them if they can find each other on here.
As I mentioned, due to its dealing with an extreme (height in this case) and it is occupied with mostly men (mostly gay/bi/curious guys) it will naturally lead down this way.
Now because you are straight this may be a little more surprising to you, but eventually any congregation of gay men will lead to romantic/sexual overtones. This is not due to gay men being absolute horndogs, but because the internet is one of the better refuges gay men have to find a date/partner/f-buddy without having to worry about many other factors.
When you also take into account that many average heighted guys are here seeking a much shorter or taller partner the odds of finding someone on another website are lower, so naturally a place where they are concentrated is going to be more ideal to seek this out.
As J said we knew worse. I remember that before, there was no approval for pictures so one day I was checking what was going on here and saw a new member clearly saying that he was searching sex and he had put naked pictures on his public gallery!
I was happy my girlfriend was not behind me else she would have thought this website was a gay porn one and I would have trouble I think!! lol
This is something that is typical of men in general, not just of gay men. It’s in our nature to think below the belt. Suppose you had a room full of straight men and straight women. Those men will naturally have pairing up on their minds. In that case 50% of the room is thinking the same way (assuming a 1-to-1 ratio between men and women), whereas in a room of all gay men, 100% of the room is thinking the same way. That’s kind of like a nuclear reactor with no control rods.
Well I don’t think we all think below the belt but even if so, I think you have here private galleries and you have adult groups (I am speaking about tendencious content).
We have freedom to do anything we want here that’s cool because everyone has it own purpose being here. That’s also why this website has a dating part.
The good thing is that there are a lot of other topics for people who are not searching for their soulmates (or fantasies). Just focus on those ones man!
I don’t know whether I would call it dating. I think many of us would definitely love to meet with others from this site. What happens during such a meeting would be between those two indiviuals to decide. I would expect part of this site to be for people interested in dating, meeting or just wanting to have fun. There aren’t many places where short people can go to find tall people and vice versa.
Hell, I would be thrilled to death if I could actually meet someone from this site, or ANY site. It’s hard enough to meet guys.
I never run across more than 3 or 4 people besides me that are in California, though.
as long as people mingle with each other(online or in RL), there will always be chance that people will meet each other and date each other.
it happens at bars, clubs, work, professional associations, school, school clubs etc, why not here?
