Hey Admin –
I’m still unable to post pictures. I think I’m doing it right (go to My Account and then My Photos). This is the error message that comes up:
ErrorThe uploaded file does not appear to be a valid image. Please contact admin for assistance. Error code 2.
ErrorThe uploaded file can not be saved in a photo album. Please contact admin for assistance. Error code 3.
Array ( [file] => Array ( [name] => 85024.jpg [type] => image/pjpeg [tmp_name] => C:\WebServ\temp\php500.tmp [error] => 0 [size] => 37352 ) ) Array ( [button] => Upload [album_id] => 23 [action] => uploadpublic )

Hi Matt
I’m still unable to work out why your photo will not upload, although the error messages are showing me the problem does not lie with the site. For whatever reason, your photo is not being recognised as a valid photo file. I would suggest opening the photo in some photo editing software and re-saving it with a new title. Better yet, change the format from jpg to gif to see if that helps.
I get the same results as Matt. Can’t we post JPGs?
I got it working posting it as a GIF. Thanks for the help!
The photo upload function accepts JPG, GIF and PNG images. However, there are a small number of JPG images that don’t get encoded properly – either from errors made on digital camera or photo editing software. The upload function will reject anything that doesn’t appear to be valid. Re-saving the image, especially under a new format, should clear up any problem.
I tried every file type and it won’t upload any pics at all.
Are you receiving any error messages? What file sizes are the files?
I believe if you edit photos with ms paint (even to crop or scale the image) it often creates errors. I’ve run into this before while saving as a jpeg and other formats. It wouldn’t send in the chat either, saying the file wasn’t valid. I saved it several times converting the format, and eventually it worked. doesn’t sound like a great work-around.
Windows Paint should never be used when working with photos. Not only does it generally not save them correctly, but the quality – particularly with GIF images – is terrible.
If you don’t have photo editing software on your computer, XP users can use the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to re-save image files more effectively. It should be the default program to open images, however you can select it by right-clicking your photo and going to Open With > There is a small floppy disk icon at the bottom to change file formats (JPG being the best.) Windows Vista has a similar program, but I think the name differs slightly.
It is strange we cant upload jpeg files though. I am trying to upload the same picture I had in the previos site, but there is no way to do it. I tried to change to format, but I cant do it with any program but Paint and the result is terrible. As I said, strange … :)
Try uploading the original file again now Markspi, I’ve set it to accept a few more things so it might work now. If not, message me with the error code(s) you receive.
